For more than 10 years, the name FELLERyachting has stood in yacht building and design for watercraft in a distinctive design as well as a consistent execution, which primarily enables fast, efficient and comfortable sailing.
FELLERyachting was founded by boat builder and graduate designer Uwe Feller based on the idea of the traditional wooden boat builder who primarily surrounds himself with classic sailing yachts. If it has to be a motorboat, then it should be elegant, extremely fast and comfortable. What emerged was the “slender planing craft” – a very slender and quickly rising stepped hull. After the first successful prototype, which was made in wood, he dealt with drives and materials for lightweight construction and presented his first boat in 2008 at the “Boot” in Düsseldorf.
From the first approaches, which only dealt with the actual hull shape, to the first moving prototype, to the boat, which was finally presented for the first time in 2008, an extensive and intensive phase of form-finding took place. The result is an independent design, which is and will be unmistakable in continuation and variation. The first basic idea and objective have remained to this day and will be pursued and further developed:
— exceptional handling and comfortable driving characteristics in rough water
— a short, early and barely noticeable phase of sliding up
— a high speed with low power consumption
— a lightweight construction with high-strength composite materials
— the installation of coordinated, lightweight and highly efficient motors and drive systems
A fast watercraft is exposed to high levels of material stress. If it is to be light and durable, only materials of the highest quality can be used and the processing must take place at the highest standard.
At FELLERyachting, an impact-resistant hull that is suitable for everyday use is made with glass fibers, selected core materials and epoxy resin in a vacuum hand laminate and vacuum infusion process. Bulkheads, frames and stringers are supported by local reinforcements and fixtures that function as structural elements. Weight and material usage can thus be reduced accordingly. The use of plastics and composite materials requires careful and conscious processing in order to keep the impact on the environment as low as possible. The raw hull of the 5.45 weighs just 65kg.
